Instilling good financial skills from an early age is an essential element for raising children who will grow into happy and successful adults, and here at How To Raise A Happy Genius, we believe that it is never too early to start educating your kids about money, as long as you ensure that you keep it fun. This is where Let’s Learn About Money comes in very useful. Let’s Learn About Money is an activity book, from Priddy Books, designed to provide children with an introduction to what money is and how to use it. The activities provided in it introduce children to different coins, how they add together and how they can be used to purchase items of different worth. These activities are all designed to be fun and entertaining so that the child doesn’t really realise that they are learning while they are doing them. The book features a dry erase format, meaning that the book can be re-used over and over again, and printed coins that can be popped out of the pages and played with.
Basic Book Information: ISBN: 978-1783412891; Date of Publication: May 2015; Recommended Retail Price (RRP): £5.99; Number of pages: 26 (most featuring more than one activity). What Age Of Child Is It Aimed At? This book is aimed at children aged four and older. While younger children may struggle with some of the more complex activities, learning about money is such a fundamental core life skill for raising a happy genius that it is worth introducing them to the subject as soon as they are happy to learn about it.
How Long Will It Take Work Through This Book? In total, the activities in this book would probably take approximately an hour to work through. However, it is best worked though on an exercise by exercise basis to ensure that the child does not get bored with the activities.
What I Like About This Book? The reason I like this activity book is that it introduces children to the subject of money in a fun and practical way. The activities are structured in such as way as to build up your child’s knowledge over time and help them develop a firm basis for understanding what money is and how it can be used to buy things. The only slight downside is that it doesn’t cover the subjects of saving money or where money comes from in the first place, but these are skills and knowledge that can be developed through other activities and experiences (e.g. by using a money box to save money).
What Core Life Skills Will It Help Develop? This activity book will help your child take the first steps to developing the types of financial life skills required to become a happy and successful adult. In addition, it will help develop their numeracy and maths skills (both crucial academic life skills).
Are There Other Books From The Same Publisher? Yes. This is only one of many activity books from Priddy Books. All feature the same re-useable format and cover subjects ranging from first words to cursive hand-writing You can find details of these other activity books by clicking here (UK-based parents) or here (USA-based parents).
